Why I Started a Tiny Visual Diary

For a long time, I believed painting was simply about creating beautiful pictures.

I'd spend hours trying to make everything perfect, worrying about details and comparing my work to others. Somewhere along the way, I forgot why I picked up a paintbrush in the first place.

Then something changed.

I started carrying a tiny sketchbook with me.

At first it was just a way to paint more often. But before long, it became something much more meaningful. Each tiny painting became a memory, a place, a feeling or a quiet moment that I wanted to remember.

Instead of trying to paint everything I could see, I began painting what I felt.

A winding path through a field.

The glow of a sunset over the sea.

A quiet morning with a cup of tea.

The light on distant mountains.

These little paintings became pages in what I now call my Tiny Visual Diary.

Painting slowed me down. It encouraged me to notice beauty that I would once have hurried past. It gave ordinary days a sense of purpose because I was always looking for the next moment worth remembering.

That's what Art by FSL has become.

It's not just about learning watercolour.

It's about creating a life where we pause, breathe, notice and preserve the little moments that make us smile.

My hope is that through these journal entries, tutorials and paintings, you'll feel inspired to create your own Tiny Visual Diary too.

You don't need expensive materials or perfect technique.

You only need curiosity, a little time and the willingness to see the beauty that's already around you.

Every tiny painting tells a story.

And every story deserves to be remembered.

🌿 Added to my Tiny Visual Diary. Collecting moments. One tiny painting at a time.
