Why I Created the Tiny Visual Diary

For the past few months I've been quietly working on something very special.

Not just another sketchbook, but something that encourages us to slow down, notice the world around us and collect life's little moments—one tiny painting at a time.

I call it the Tiny Visual Diary.

The idea came from my own painting practice. Some of my happiest moments have come from creating tiny landscapes inspired by places I've visited, peaceful walks, cafés, holidays and the little everyday scenes that often pass us by unnoticed.

I realised I wasn't creating paintings to frame.

I was collecting memories.

That simple thought became the foundation of everything.

Why paint tiny?

Painting small removes so much of the pressure.

A tiny painting doesn't need hours of planning.

It doesn't have to be perfect.

Instead, it becomes a moment you've chosen to remember.

A favourite tree.

Morning light through the kitchen window.

A holiday sunset.

A quiet cup of coffee.

A peaceful walk beside the river.

Over time these tiny paintings become far more than practice.

They become a visual diary of your life.

Choosing the right paper

One decision was incredibly important to me. The paper!

I tested different papers over many months because I wanted every page to feel like a pleasure to paint on.

In the end there was only one choice.

Every Tiny Visual Diary is made with Arches 100% cotton, 300gsm watercolour paper.

For me, Arches has always offered the most beautiful painting experience. Colours flow naturally, washes remain luminous, lifting is gentle and the surface rewards careful layering.

I wanted every person opening their diary to immediately feel the quality before they even picked up a brush.

If this was going to become someone's keepsake, it deserved exceptional paper.

Handmade with intention

Every Tiny Visual Diary is handmade individually.

From preparing the covers and cutting the paper, to the binding and assembling each diary, every step has been carefully considered.

It isn't about producing hundreds of sketchbooks.

It's about creating something that feels personal.

Something you'll want to keep long after every page has been filled.

More than a sketchbook

My hope is that your Tiny Visual Diary becomes a companion.

Something you take on holiday.

Something you keep in your bag.

Something that reminds you to pause for ten minutes and paint what you see.

Not because it has to become a masterpiece.

But because one day you'll look back and remember exactly how that moment felt.

The beginning of a journey

Releasing the Tiny Visual Diary is incredibly exciting for me because it represents so much more than a product.

It's the beginning of a community of artists collecting moments together.

Whether you're completely new to watercolour or you've been painting for years, I hope your diary becomes filled with tiny paintings, quiet memories and places you'll treasure forever.

Thank you for being part of this journey.

I genuinely can't wait to see where your Tiny Visual Diary takes you.
